"Stink" & "True Cost"

A few years ago, during a quiet Christmas break, I finally sat down to watch some documentaries on Netflix. I already knew a fair bit about chemicals in products and the impact of fast fashion—but seeing it laid out so clearly on screen really strengthened what I’d suspected all along.

I’ve always preferred making my own products because it’s the only way to truly know what’s going into them. But the more I learn, the more frustrated I become with how many hidden chemicals and misleading claims big manufacturers slip into everyday items. It’s honestly a bit frightening!

If you’re curious to dig deeper, here are two documentaries I recommend:

💨 “Stink!”

A powerful look at the unregulated chemicals hiding in everyday household and personal-care products. Even if you already know the basics, this one really drives it home.

I’ve always been about 95% a second-hand clothes shopper—undies, bras, and socks are usually the only new things I buy. Some of my clothes are ancient (I’ve got a nightie that’s about 18 years old!), but they’re still going strong. Buying less and choosing better genuinely makes a difference.

👗 “The True Cost”

A deep dive into the fast-fashion industry and the environmental and human costs behind cheap clothing. It’s something I really hope the younger generation takes the time to watch—their choices will shape the world they live in.

At the end of the day, it’s everyday people—us—who can drive real change simply by buying mindfully, asking questions, and choosing better where we can. Small, thoughtful shifts truly ripple outward. 🌿✨
